Caterpillar defoliating Serianthes nelsonii saplings

One of four Serianthes nelsonii saplings, growing at the UOG Yigo Ag. Expt. Stn., was defoliated by small caterpillars. These are almost definitely Euremia blanda, the large grass yellow, which is currently very abundant. According to Schreiner and Nafus (1997)[1], "... it seriously defoliates the endangered tree species Serianthes nelsonii."
