Description
Paper wasps, Ropalidia gregaria, on their nest on the spiky leaf of a palm at the Palmetum.  The nest is a single layer of cells hanging from the blackish suspension stalk at the top. The wasps are quite similar to Polistes stigma townsvillensis, though smaller, but the nests are distinctively different.
