Evania
EOL Text
Hosts are known for E. appendigaster, but none are known for neotropical species. Huben (1995) predicted that large cockroaches in the genera Megaloblatta and Nyctibora (but see Deans & Roth, 2003) may produce oothecae large enough for some neotropical Evania spp. to utilize.

This is the only genus with a world-wide distribution and includes the cosmopolitan species E. appendigaster (Linnaeus, 1758). There are at least 2 described neotropical species, E. tinctipennis Cameron, 1887 and E. albofacialis Cameron, 1887, which are collected mostly in Central America and Colombia. Determining the total number of described species requires extensive museum work, but there are probably close to 10 total species in the New World.

Only E. appendigaster, primarily an urban species, is found south of Colombia. Endemic Evania spp. are found throughout Central America.
